Catch-up
April 3, 2009

This week was crazy! I started working 5 days a week in the coffee shop because my boss is about to pop. (No really. I think if someone were to poke her belly, she’d pop.) 4:00 mornings left me drained! On Thursday morning I realized that  I didn’t do my Inspire Me Wednesday. And I had something to share, something good…

I found out about Kindred through decor8. It’s a collection of free, gorgeous wallpaper backgrounds. It’s pure eye candy! I’m currently using this one as my background. I love it!

More catch-up…

Later this year, I’ll be closing Lemonade Accessories. I’m still going to be sewing, I’ll just be under a new name, making new things. You can bookmark or heart my new Etsy shop here. More on when the change will happen later. Right now, I’m looking at anywhere between June-August. If you want something in Lemonade, grab it! Olive and Jude will have different items and I’ll be focusing on vintage and eco-friendly fabrics.

Have a great weekend!

I totally forgot it was Wednesday! It’s ok, though. I had something in mind to blog about so it was just a matter of getting it all together!

This week it’s all about Orla Kiely. I first heard of her a few weeks, maybe a month or so, ago over on Decor8. Holly had written about the new Orla Kiely line for Target. I went to Target Monday not even thinking about this line. But I saw it. And I let out a gasp. I immediately grabbed a coffee cup and put it in my basket. Then my rational side kicked in…we have 18 coffee cups already and I’m the only one that uses them. I don’t need another right now. Even if it is the cutest coffee cup I’ve ever seen. If this line had been in Target last year, I would have registered for the wedding at Target instead of Bed Bath and Beyond.

So far out of my price range but still so lovely! The simple shapes, patterns, and colors are right up my alley. Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Told you I’d have one today! This week features just one source of inspiration: Lady GaGa.

Inspire Me Wednesday: Week Three
February 18, 2009

I know I normally share four things that have been inspiring me but this week, there’s just one thing really.

I had heard about this book a while ago but didn’t think anything of it. I finally decided that I wanted to see what it was all about so Saturday night after dinner, Kyle humored me and we went to Barnes & Noble. I started reading it like I would a regular book but kept running into things that don’t really apply to me (example: outsourcing your work.) As a result, I decided to use it like a reference book. It’s wonderful!

She makes it all sound so simple but not in the way that you’re like,” Dangit. SHE made it sound so easy!” More like, “I can totally do that!” Also, the book itself is seriously cute. I mean, look at the front cover. The inside is just as cute.

If you’re a crafter looking to turn your hobby into a business, I suggest picking up this book.

Inspire Me Wednesday: Week Two

This week’s IMW is unintentionally girly. Really girly.

One: Martha Stewart. I really like her and her craft supplies and her home products (over half the stuff in our house is from her line at Macy’s. I love every bit of it.) I’ve been watching her every morning and I love seeing all of her different baking and crafting projects. I could sit in the store and stare at her craft supplies forever.

Two: Wishcake. I love reading her blog and I love her shop. Everything is so cute and so well made. Check it out.

Three: Valentine’s Day! I love all the pink, red, and white that’s out this time of year.

Four: Confessions of a Shopaholic. I confess, I’ve never read the book and I doubt I’ll see the movie since I have no girlfriends to see it with but Isla Fisher is terribly beautiful. Also? I have this thing for high fashion, I used to want to be a designer. I don’t really keep up with it but I love seeing it in movies and on TV. (I think that’s part of the reason I like SATC, all the fabulous clothes.) They don’t even have to be fabulous, I just like the bright, quirky stuff seen here and on Carrie and the girls.

Inspire me Wednesday: Week One

Yesterday I had an idea. An idea that I should share with all of you what has been inspiring me lately. So every Wednesday, I’m going to post four things that have been inspiring me in hopes that they will spark something in you.

One: Amy Butler. I love her fabrics and the ‘inspiration’ section of her site is full of gorgeous photos like this one.

Two: The Office. It’s my new love. I watch it when I’m sewing or working on paper things. It’s so good, why didn’t anyone make me watch it sooner?

Three: U2. I used to not like them (and I’m still not fond of Bono) but I finally found this CD (try to find it up here, I dare you) and I’ve been listening to it all the time. Pride (In the Name of Love) is more wonderful than I had ever realized.

Four: My day job. Yes, I’m inspired by my day job. I make coffee. How great is that? I get to make fancy coffee drinks and smoothies and I get paid for it. Some of my customers are so amazingly sweet and always happy to get their coffee, even if they have to wait a little longer because I’m busy with another customer. I’m trying to work on my patience (as I have been for years) and this is certainly helping.
